Today I'm bringing you a super special pair of gloves that I just finished. They're for my first cousin once removed (or something like that... we're not quite sure how we're related!) She asked me to make these FOREVER ago, but with the holiday rush, I'm just getting them finished now. I can't wait to go over and give them to her. I don't see her and my adorable cousins twice (?) removed often enough!

a friendlybrown favorite
I made a lot of gloves this past year, but none are as special as the pair I made for Matt for Christmas. I was actually too late in making them, as he went out a few days before Christmas and bought a pair, but I like to think that these are WAY better!
By far the most difficult pair to make, they feature half fingers, and an optional mitten covering for really cold days! Maybe one day when I have elves working for me, I'll be able to sell these in the Etsy shop.
Merry Christmas Matt!

friendlybrown holiday trends...
Well, the holidays are officially over, and I'm getting to the end of my orders- only 2 more pairs to make! I really think it's interesting to see what buyers on Etsy choose from my shop, and I thought I'd share with you too! Here are a few of the pairs of gloves I sold in December:
Here's the most recent pair of fingerless gloves- love this color combo!
These have been one of my best sellers...
Custom pair for Matt's mom... she loved them!
These were a custom pair for a usps worker!
A coworker ordered these for a friend's birthday. I LOVE making gloves for people that I actually know!

when it all comes together...
you spend many minutes and hours creating some adorable custom fingerless gloves. you toil over which colors to use. you wonder if your customer will love them. then, it's time to take pictures...
it's fall, so i had to use some "props" that i found on the back porch.
it's amazing what a great background the blue brick of our back deck makes...
i LOVE the versatility of these gloves- they'd match with anything!
more leaves... because there are exactly one million and two on our porch, and more fall every day!

these colors must be in...
because this pair of gloves were featured in three different treasuries yesterday! this particular pair wasn't very popular last fall, but people seem to be liking it this year. maybe i was just a year ahead? I've always thought yellow and gray was a really cool color combo, so i'm psyched that others are enjoying it too. Please check out the treasuries i was featured in here, here, and here...

strawberry fields forever...
or ummm... raspberry fields forever! i've been included in this pretty treasury by popwhiz inspired by the beautiful colors of raspberries that have been popping up lately. there are a bunch of amazing items featured in it, including my burgundy and dusty green fingerless gloves! please head over if you have a minute and take a look...

everything's coming up friendly...
Well, it's 11:30 at night, and I'm still awake, because I had a super stressful night, when all I really want to do it get crafty!
I had Bridge crash on me, when what I REALLY needed to do was get some photos together for Art on Lark. It's insane how dependent I've become on Bridge, because I was basically helpless without it. Needless to say, I did NOTHING with photographs tonight, I was more productive with Dogfish Head.
On the bright side- I did find a copy of Lightroom that I didn't know I had, which will probably make my life a hell of a lot easier in the future. Now I'm probably going to spend most of the night messing around in it instead of sleeping.
But the REAL reason that everything's coming up Friendly is that I got 2 bits of positive information on the Etsy front when I got home from work. First- I was featured on this blog for a black and white photograph that I actually took my senior year of college:
Very cool to see this shot posted on a blog. I always thought this series made these dead leaves look somehow alive. A friend of mine told me that this one looked like an animal crawling across the floor. Regardless, now I'm tempted to add this to my Art on Lark list.
Also- my dead streak is over... I finally sold another pair of fingerless gloves. FriendlyBrown is back baby! Speaking of which, I need to go over and renew!
Ok- all renewed! This pair of gloves I actually made for a gift for my friend's sister. I'm glad somebody else likes the color combo!

Lambs and gloves and scarves- oh my!
This week has been filled with new knitting projects! It's been great to get back on the needles and knit some new and exciting projects. First up, a pair of gloves commissioned from a friend for a friend up in Buffalo. It's probably still cold up there!
Next up is a project I was asked to do awhile ago, but only now have found time to complete it. This little lamb definitely tested my knitting skills, but I think she came out really cute!
Last up is a skinny scarf that I've been meaning to make awhile, but the weather this week was just calling for it! I honestly feel naked without a scarf, but it's been a little too warm to wear one of my nice big ones. This skinny scarf features a 2x2 rib, and it about 6 ft long. It was a breeze to make too! I'm definitely going to make more!

FriendlyBrown wish list...
In between making projects for friends, family, and customers, I always like to keep a list of patterns and ideas for items that I'd like to make for myself. My wishlist right now includes:
Lightweight scarf in tan or gray as my essential spring accessory
Slouchy hat for spring
Knitted bag for groceries
Knitted change purse
A cute spring shrug
I'll let you know what I decide to start first!
