FriendlyBrown- A Year in Pictures

Alright 2010- It's been great, but I'm ready to see what 2011 has to offer!  As we round out this year, I thought it would be fun to go back through my thousands of pictures from the year, and pick out my favorite from each month.  Hope you enjoy!

The first snow of the year- it was so beautiful!  Had a blast taking the camera out!

Second snow- still beautiful, probably because it didn't affect my commute home!

March brought a walkabout with CAPow in downtown Albany.  One regret of the year- not doing more of these!

April brought sunshine!  You know it's spring when you see these little yellow flowers blooming everwhere!

Tulip Fest always happens in May, and this year was exceptionally beautiful!

 Yay for festival weather!

I finally made it to the Saratoga racetrack this year.  So glad I went!

Did a few small tours of the Capital District in August, and was amazed by the simplest beauty.

The last festival of the summer for us was moe.down in Central NY.  LOVED this bumper sticker!

Had a really awesome day walking around the city in October.  Here's Yoko's wish tree at MOMA.

Got to go back to the city AGAIN in November and really enjoyed walking the Highline!

I rounded out the year baking cookies with  mom.  Best. Christmas. Ever.  I took a lot of pictures of cookies this month, but none are as special as this one. :)

Happy New Year everyone!

the village- part 1

There were just TOO many things to capture in my walk around the village last weekend, so I need to break this up into two posts.  West 4th street used to be my favorite stomping ground when I lived in Brooklyn, so getting to walk around, have a slice at my favorite joint, and get some shooting done was really a thrill for me...

To see more shots of the village, check out my flickr set here!

when it all comes together...

you spend many minutes and hours creating some adorable custom fingerless gloves.  you toil over which colors to use.  you wonder if your customer will love them.  then, it's time to take pictures...

it's fall, so i had to use some "props" that i found on the back porch.

it's amazing what a great background the blue brick of our back deck makes...

i LOVE the versatility of these gloves- they'd match with anything!

more leaves...  because there are exactly one million and two on our porch, and more fall every day!

new goodies!

well, just one in particular... a new lens!  last week i got a Canon fixed 50mm f/1.8 lens- good stuff!  i LOVE the shallow depth of field I can get on this thing.  the only problem- it really made me realize that i want a new camera body too.  maybe santa will bring me one this year...

we traveled down to warwick for the coolest baby shower ever, and i took some test shots with the lens to see what i could get out of it.  let me know what you think!

"son"flowers!

hands down, the creepiest thing i've ever seen.  definitely do NOT like spiders!

of course, there was lager!

and oh the food!  i'm really digging this lens for food photography... definitely more of that to come!

late night campfire- awesome!

no such thing as too much garlic...

i woke up this morning to find myself in this adorable garlic-themed treasury. Please take the time to check it out when you have the chance- there's a lot of great items featured, including my black and white garlic postcards!

photo inspiration: being an artist...

i don't like drawing, i like doodling.  i need to do it more. i need to do it often. i need to put something on that blank canvas that matt so thoughtfully bought me for my birthday (which was in december and is still blank!). i doodled this week, and drew this:

maybe it'll turn into something? maybe? hopefully?

Photo inspiration: home...

Here I am, driving back from the train station after an absolutely amazing weekend with old friends. But as nice as a little vacation was, it's always nice to come back to the place you call home. I've had a lot of "homes" over the past few years, but there's just something about this place that I love. I dont know how long ill stay, but you've really showed me some grood times. Thanks for being you, Albany.
