surprise surprise...

so, i FINALLY had a free day last weekend and decided that the best use of my free alone time would be to head over to Washinton Park and take pictures of those rapidly changing leaves. The only problem- the leaves haven't changed yet over there!  as disappointed as i was (and worried because i don't know the next day that  i'll be free to shoot), i made the most of my day and started shooting away.  the sun was getting low, and i got some AWESOME  light.  i ended up really pleased with a lot that i shot, and am planning on getting some of these up on etsy as soon as possible.  check out the full set here.

here are a few of my personal favorites from the day...

shop local: a quickie

i'm apologizing in advance, but this is going to be a quick shop local post.  i'm in the middle of throwing a bunch of stuff together for a festival i'm going to tomorrow (moe.down baby!), but wanted to take a minute and show off some awesome shops i found this week.  there's no rhyme or reason to these picks, i just thought they all kicked ass!  (ok- on further reflection of what i picked, apparently i was in a very naturey, flowery mood, because all of these items have flowers or nature in them- go figure!)

tulip fest... more!

Like I was saying yesterday- Tulip Fest is a heck of a good time, and I brought my camera and took pictures of the pretty flowers.  I'll save you from the drunk embarrassing pics. You can see more on my flickr page...

tulip fest '10!

That time of year has come again- Tulip Fest!  Every year when the tulips start blooming, you know it's time to rock!  Basically crowds of people come to Washington Park in Albany to check out pretty flowers, eat a bunch of fried food, and see live music.  Oh, and drink cheap beer all day!  Between Yuenglings (hey, I'm still from PA!),  I managed to get some pretty sweet shots of some tulips.  Part II will be here tomorrow!

Back to Basics: Part 1

If there's one thing that I love to do, it's walk around the neighborhood, find some pretty flowers, and take pictures really up close to them. I did just that the other night, and it really felt good...

spring flowers!

it's pretty crappy out right now, and i'm snuggling up with a great big mug of coffee and baileys, but these flowers are totally brightening up my day :)

matt's mom bought them for me this past weekend at the lark street flower market. if you're in the area, you should totally stop by there. they always have the prettiest flowers out front for a reasonable price, and the ladies inside are super friendly and helpful...

i actually got these flowers there last year for thanksgiving, and they were a big hit! so cute with the cranberries in the vase!

v-day...

i'm not the biggest fan of valentine's day, but i must admit, this year was the best yet. matt and i had a great day lounging around and eating a ridiculously large amount of food. of course, i documented the whole thing...

aren't they pretty?

no celebration starts off right without some ballin' egg sandwiches...

matt really likes these funfetti cupcakes, so they were my valentine's present to him... i had a blast making and photographing them...

matt makes the best seafood bisque, and this was no exception. it was delicious!

even the bread was heart shaped...

so we really went all-out and made filet mignon wrapped in bacon and twice baked potatoes with cheddar cheese. it was sooooo good, and so filling...

and if that wasn't enough, we decided to throw in some lobster too...
